Beth Swanson

Beth Swanson has been a professional communicator for more than 18 years. Her Leadership experience includes holding management and executive positions in corporate communications and public relations for Fortune 500 corporations. Beth has served in capacities such as public relations, marketing communications and advertising. However since 1998 she has worked almost exclusively in employee communications, primarily for the retail and restaurant environments.
Before becoming, an independent consultant in 2006, Beth was Director of Corporate Communications for Toys“R”Us, Inc., one of the leading retailers of toys and baby products with more than 1,500 freestanding destination toy and baby specialty stores worldwide. While there she developed and implemented employee communications plans and strategies to support the corporation and its business units. During this time, she also worked closely with the executive team to manage change communications during the company’s leveraged buyout and transition to private ownership. In addition to her corporate communications role, in 2004 and 2005 she also handled brand management and public relations for Babies“R”Us, the company’s $2 billion business segment.
Prior to Toys“R”Us, Beth worked in corporate communications for Wendy’s International, Inc. where she played a key role in developing communications for employees and franchise owners. At Wendy’s, Beth developed and executed internal communication strategies that supported global initiatives in marketing, human resources, and restaurant operations. Among other responsibilities, Beth served as managing editor of Wendy’s Magazine, an internationally distributed communications vehicle developed for independent franchise owners.
Early in her career, Beth worked as an editor in product development for DaySpring Cards, now a subsidiary of Hallmark. At DaySpring, Beth managed creative collaborations with outside partners, contributed to product introduction strategies, and conducted market structure analysis for use in product launches.
Beth currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Council of Communication Management. She is an APR accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Beth is also a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a B.A. in Communications from Judson College.
Beth’s work has been decorated with numerous awards, and she enjoys speaking at Industry conferences about employee communications and engagement.
