Valerie Neff Newitt has spent her professional career in the world of words and human dynamics. She brings to L.M. Dulye & Co. 25 years writing and editing experience in many Philadelphia-area newspapers as well as national publications, including Woman’s Day and Women’s World.

As a state- and national-award-winning writer she has researched and written feature articles covering medical issues, consumerism, contemporary lifestyles, travel, celebrity profiles and editorials. Valerie has also served as theater critic, restaurant reviewer and style columnist. Most recently, she has initiated a travel blog, “The Pink Suitcase,” and has been assigned to online video coverage and voiceovers for multiple newspaper websites.

Valerie is also adept at page design and pagination, and holds consecutive local, state and national awards for her newspaper feature page designs.

Throughout her career, Valerie has forged pathways of understanding and bridges to conflict resolution between fellow journalists and management boards through her work with The Newspaper Guild of Philadelphia where she has been elected to various leadership roles. She has crafted contract language through highly-intensive bargaining processes, and has helped contract participants on both workforce and management sides understand the impact and implications of that language.

A resident of the Philadelphia suburbs, Valerie maintains a passion for travel and the sea (she’d prefer to be just under the surface with a snorkel mask firmly in place..) and a sincere, if not fluent, interest in languages. She is a graduate of Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and has taken post-graduate courses at Villanova and West Chester (Pa.) universities. She holds a Pennsylvania state teaching certification in art/education.
