"Business literacy" is, in its most simple definition, an understanding of the business landscape and financial workings of an organization. The "landscape" includes core businesses, customers, markets, and the industry in general. The "financial" aspect includes how the company generates sales, profitability, overhead, budgeting, and shareholder/stakeholder expectations. And employees, even front-line workers who may not influence the business strategy, are interested in it.
